Ystäväni saapui Suomeen torstaina ja heti ensimmäisenä päivänä puhuimme kuinka Suomi on erittäin turvallinen maa ja täällä harvoin tapahtuu mitään suurempaa. No ei siinä mennyt kuin päivä, kun ystäväni isoisä Jenkeistä laittoi viestiä ja kysyi ettei vain oltu Turussa. Tässä vaiheessa tarkistin uutiset ja luin tästä perjantaisesta järkyttävästä tapahtumasta. Aika sanattomaksi vetää…Voimia kaikille sinne Turun suunnalle!
Me tulimme eilen maaseudun rauhaan ja täällä on ihmisen hyvä olla. Ystävänikin on viihtynyt, vaikka tämä suomalainen mökkeily on aika kaukana kalifornialaisesta elämänmenosta. Eilen vietimme tunteja saunassa ja järvessä uiden ja tänään suunnitelmissa on ehkä käydä marjametsässä ja pyöräilemässä. Illalla sitten taas saunaan!

My friend arrived to Finland on Thursday and we discussed how Finland is very safe and nothing major really happens here. Well, it only took one day before her family messaged her and asked her if she was okay. Then we started reading the news and read about the brutal terrorist attack in Turku. I have to say I’m quite speechless, even though these news are nothing new after living in France for years (unfortunately). It still hits hard though, as I didn’t expect something like this to happen in our small northern country. All my thoughts are with my readers and relatives in the Turku region!
We are now at our summerhouse and the plan is to spend the next few days here. Our agenda is to relax and do all the Finnish summerhouse things (go berry picking, enjoy sauna, swim in the lake, walk in the forest etc.). Enjoy the small things in life, because those are the ones that matter the most in the end.
